Is it possible that health insurance can be helpful?

Andy McKelvey of AZ Health Benefit Specialist came in to see me the other day. I don't know about you but health insurance has always been one of those "necessary evils" and something I just don't want to know much about. The swirl of politics and coverage regarding the Health Care Reform legislature is just so much "noise" to someone like me. Still, it's the person, not the business that I am committed to learn about and that's what I set out to do with Andy.

What I learned of was Andy's passion for helping people. With a daughter that lived to be 8 years old with Down's Syndrome and multiple other health issues and a wife with MS, Andy has been through the mill with health issues in his own family. Therefore, he became committed to helping others with their own issues and focused on getting the best possible coverage at the best possible price...tailored to the individual needs. I learned of such specialty insurance products as Supplemental (a la Aflac) and Overseas Travel insurance and Short Term Medical insurance, which was a better deal than Cobra. As a matter of fact, I just ran into another Club E member that was paying COBRA and could really use this so...I'm connecting them both together tomorrow.

It became very obvious that Andy provided a much needed, hands on service and could really help individuals and small businesses with their insurance needs. I proposed that Andy be introduced to one of our Club E members and they go through the whole "mysterious" process of getting a new health insurance policy and we document the whole process as a "case study" so people can see how easy the process really is. He wholeheartedly endorsed this idea and we will be moving on this soon. Who knows(?) I need to upgrade my own health insurance policy myself and maybe I will be the guinea pig for demonstrating the process for others...

Best to all,
